Diagnosis of Participatory Maturity
by Alexia Jacques-Casanova & Maïlys Liautard
Inspired by our Maturity Model, Alexia Jacques-Casanova and Maïlys Liautard developed an assessment tool for participatory projects in French museums as part of a workshop they led. This workshop involved about 20 museum professionals and students, focusing on enhancing engagement in participatory practices within museums.
In their words, “The aim of this rubric is to help museum professionals gauge whether they (as individuals and institutions) are actually ready to embark on a participatory project that will be relevant and durable. To do so, we encourage them to examine five areas: organizational structure; project management methods; audience research; relationship with visitors; partnerships.“
Alexia and Maïlys have given us permission to share a prototype of the Participatory Maturity tool under a CC-BY-NC-SA license: Diagnostic de compatibilité participative.
