The Empathetic Museum is a little confused by all the recognition going towards AAM’s bold statement of diversity when they didn’t acknowledge (by name) all of the individual’s working towards this for years.

NY times article touting AAM’s “watershed” work for equity in the industry. Already failing at the fundamentals: acknowledge the work of those who came before you. Not one word for the grassroots orgs that were forced to drive the conversation because AAM wouldn’t.

Smaller organizations have always had the nimbleness that larger ones appropriate years later when it becomes safe.

Tag a few organizations and individuals in the comments whose work should be acknowledged.
