To AAM, crediting EM work

The American Alliance of Museums recently posted an article, A Time of Transformation, as follow up to an original publishing by cultural organization and thought partner, LaPlaca Cohen, written by Arthur Cohen, Founder and CEO, LaPlaca Cohen

A special edition of the Culture Track research initiative provides an update on how audiences are doing now. This article originally appeared in the March/April 2022 issue of Museum magazine, a benefit of AAM membership.

I guess how do we say — empathetically — that while their research is welcome and certainly continues the work of building a case for transformation in museums, part of that work is taking responsibility for researching the space you’re stepping into and crediting the work of those that have been advocating already — often (and in our case) with smaller platforms. In particular if your aim is inclusion and equity. And when you’re “coining” a term that’s already been defined and is being used internationally in three languages.
